When a forklift fully loaded with goods flexibly shuttles between warehouse aisles, and when construction machinery moves forward steadily on a construction site, there is a key component that works silently behind the scenes - the drive wheel assembly.
Drive wheel assembly
Let's take a look at the driving wheel structure of the forklift. The drive wheel assembly is also called the drive unit or drive assembly, which mainly provides the vehicle with driving power and drives the vehicle to move.
Main components of the drive wheel assembly
1. Drive motor
One of the core components of the drive wheel assembly, usually a DC motor or an AC motor. It generates a rotational torque through power input to drive the entire system to work.
2. Electromagnetic brake
The working principle is to use the attraction generated by electromagnetic induction to achieve braking. When the electromagnet is energized, a magnetic field is generated to attract the friction material, causing it to rub against the brake wheel or transmission system, thereby converting it into braking force to achieve the braking effect.
3. PU wheel/drive wheel
PU wheel is a wheel made of polyurethane (PU) material, usually used for the drive wheel or load wheel of logistics and transportation equipment such as forklifts, trolleys, and handling equipment.
4. Transmission/Gearbox
The transmission is a mechanical device used to adjust the engine output power and transmit the rotational power to the vehicle's drive wheels
The gearbox is one of the core components of the transmission, and its main function is to achieve different transmission ratios through the combination of gears.
According to the structure:
1. Vertical drive wheel assembly
Advantages: A. High power, you can choose a high-power motor. Note: The motor of the vertical configuration is 1.5KW or above
B. Good heat dissipation
Disadvantages: Large size and inconvenient to install; low cost performance
2. Horizontal drive wheel assembly Advantages
Advantages:A. Small size, easy to install, the small King Kong pallet trucks on the market currently use horizontal drive wheel assemblies
B. High cost performance
Disadvantages: Low power and inconvenient to choose a high-power motor; high maintenance cost, poor heat dissipation
Classification by motor type:
1. DC drive wheel assembly
Separately excited drive wheel assembly
Series excited drive wheel assembly
Permanent magnet drive wheel assembly
2. AC drive wheel assembly
